Millie Kelly
Based London, UK
The motive behind my current works derive from the notion that art should be accessible to everyone. I noticed such a divide within the contemporary art scene when I moved to London from Devon and I wanted to create works that were visually engaging and exciting to the majority. I want my personality to flourish within the works, I want them to be bold and beautiful and create a dynamic within a room on their own. I am inspired by the world around me; politics, literature and conversation. I often use popular imagery from my childhood in an attempt to connect a memory with the viewer. My paintings do not necessarily portray a particular meaning, but they are an accumulation of thoughts and ideas, harmonised on the canvas to create a visually sound composition.
