Sofia Fresia

From underwater visions of the bottom of a swimming pool to wide views of the Alpine peaks, the paintings of Sofia Fresia systematically investigate the close relationship between human life, Nature and Time. Based on her rebirth after a long disease, they are supposed to show the positive sides of existence and to give a non-scaring interpretation of its dark sides, as pain, death, failure, war and solitude. Both paintings (oil) and drawings (pencil, colour pencil, ink) depict fragments of reality in a colorful, figurative and detailed manner, even when they refer to mental pictures. The starting point of most of her works are past memories or present moods, with related emotions. Her works can be divided into three different collections: Pools, connected to surflifesaving competitions’ world; Alps, referred to the universe of mountains and people who live there; Doors, that collects works exploring society and personal universes.
