Trina Turturici

Based Los Angeles, USA
Trina Turturici

I use the shapes of ordinary objects and landscapes that I see in my daily life as a way to explore materials through working intuitively. The playful approach to material, texture and mark making in tandem with working from observation creates a visual tension that represents a collaboration between the conscious and subconscious mind. I have developed many processes for making my work that include, cutting, masking, and collaging so as to preserve the feeling of spontaneity. My approach of working intuitively and consciously creates an uncanny and surreal portrayal of a somewhat familiar scene that hovers between reality and fantasy.
