William Harman
Based London, UKHumour is at the heart of my practice. I want my paintings to be fun. Drawing from my own experience and cultural heritage, I create purposely kitsch scenes that are recognisable and accessible. I use gatherings like birthday parties, family events, nights out and the regulars at the local as a starting point and fill my canvases with stiff, awkward characters. Composed with a painterly crudeness for the viewer to confront and enjoy, I try to navigate the course between realism and the surreal.
