About

I make paintings that explore the relationship between material and self within formalist painting boundaries. My work is routed in experience, I am interested in the gaps between what we see and the language we use to describe it. I use found and adapted tools to create performed, repeated and reversed actions; building both unity and division. A calculated yet ungovernable adrenaline pushes me through paintings and the balance between materiality and motive acts as a tipping point. Subversive contradictions drive my practice; wet and dry, horizontal and vertical, painting and removing, tool and hand, paint and place.
