About Elisa Carruti
Elisa Carutti — Painting Meets Sculpture
Milan‑born artist (1991) Elisa Carutti fuses painting and sculpture into a sensuous, layered language. Through material weight and formal tension, she explores identity and how we sense time.
Carutti’s works begin with the canvas as both surface and structure. Pigment, edges and tension are made visible, turning supports into active bodies that hold memory and duration. The result is an economy of forms—poised, tactile and quietly charged—that invites slow looking.
Her practice has been shaped by study and exhibition across Italy, France and the UK. Recent presentations include Derive (Gate44, Milan, 2022), Crisalide (Nexus Artspace, 2021), L’eterno femminino (Galleria Rubin, Milan, 2024), Mineral (Amélie Maison d’Art, Paris, 2019) and Paper Cuts (Saatchi Gallery, London, 2018).

Carutti often treats the canvas support as a protagonist—its weave, edges and pull become part of the image—so that questions of identity and the passage of time are felt not only in what we see, but in how the material holds itself together.
