Artist Info:
Ellie Walker is a British painter from Essex whose work serves as a visual diary grappling with anxiety, memory, and personal history. After starting her career as an interior decorator, she returned to education in her late twenties and earned a BA in Fine Art from London Metropolitan University and an MA from Central Saint Martins. Walker builds her paintings by first creating childlike, diary-like drawings from observation, imagination, and photographs – then translating and fragmenting those motifs into layered painted narratives. Using a deliberately naïve, mixed-media approach (including experimental “paint-skin” techniques where dried acrylic is peeled and collaged), she allows accidental forms and textures to guide each piece. The resulting works are expressive reinterpretations of personal experiences, rather than literal depictions, often described by the artist as “visual diary entries” of her emotional life.
